Our Instructors & Staff Members

Our Instructors have spent many years devoted to training in the arts of Taekwon-do and Hapkido therefore they have attained the highest level of expertise to qualify them as Teachers,Masters and role models.

Through extensive training under world class Grandmasters, testing, certification and local/state/international competition, our staff has attained Mastery in these martial arts and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students. As a direct result of this we have produced hundreds of world class martial artists.

Master Martinez received his black belt in 1979 from Grandmaster/Doctor Danny Ortiz considered by many, the father of taekwon-do in Puerto Rico. In 1980 as part of the Puerto Rico National Martial Arts Team, Master Martinez traveled and competed abroad. In 1982 he moved to New York City where he continued competing and studying under Grandmaster Richard Chun. Upon the arrival in America of legendary Grandmaster Kwon Jae Hwa Master Martinez became his student and assistant in the New York headquarters. This master has influenced Master Martinez the most, and is considered his true teacher. For many years Master Martinez was part of the pan am Taekwon-do Federation under Grandmaster Won Keun Bai. More recently he was elected to the position of Director of Competition for the International Taekwon-do Society and promoted to 7th degree by its President Grandmaster Kwang Duk Chung. Master Martinez served 11 years of military service as a hand to hand combat instructor for the U.S. Army southern command rapid deployment forces. He has trained thousands of taekwon-do practitioners in all levels beginner to advanced. His travels have taken him to Venezuela,Honduras, Holland, Canada,Germany and all over the carribean plus many other places that because of their military value he can not put on this site. Presently Master Martinez serves as Vice Chairman of Soundview Community In Action he is also involved in local politics and continues to teach daily.

Mel Contreras  (5th dan sahbumnim)
Sahbumnim Contreras is a 25 year veteran of the Kmag system and Master Martinez's most trusted student. He has also represented the U.S.A. in International competition. In the year 2005 Sahbumnim Contreras was inducted into the Puerto Rico Martial Arts Hall Of Fame for his leadership in Taekwon-do.

Gerald Jusino  ((Red) 4th dan Sahbumnim)
Mr. Jusino has been training with Master Martinez since the age of 7, he has competed in local/regional and international competition. He is an accomplished child developement specialist with many years of teaching experience under his belt.He is considered like a son by Master Martinez and has traveled with him extensively.Red as he is known in the school is always willing to lend a helping hand.

Nelson (Termite) Martinez  (4th Dan Sahbumnim)
Nelson has been with the Organization since early childhood he is a Combat Veteran of the U.S Army in Iraq. He is a graduate of the I.T.F International Instructor course.He has represented k-mag in national and international competition and has served a term as Director of competition for K-mag International.

Eduardo Delgado  (3rd Dan Bu-sahbum)
Eduardo Delgado has been with K-mag since the age of 7 he has competed in national as well as international competition winning various awards.He has also served a term as Director of Discipline for K-mag International.

Mr. Thomas has been in the organization since his teens. He is a New York City police officer and whenever possible he assists Master Martinez in teaching. He is an excellent role model for our students and one of Master Martinez's favorite black belts.

Uriel Ramirez  (2nd dan bu-sahbum)
Every once in a while a person comes along that is willing to help all others and to serve as an example to all. Uriel is that person.He is a college student and works but always finds time for k-mag.

Manny as he is called by all at Kmag has been with the Organization since his Teens He is A very proficient Athlete. And is close to Master Martinez and his Family

Dany is a very talented Black Belt with unlimited potential and at Kmag we will keep our eyes on his trajectory.

Bethany Martinez  (1st dan bu-sahbum)
Bethany Martinez the smallest daughter of Master Martinez has competed in many local/state/international events winning over 67 awards for competition including the U.S. National title that she won at the Mohegan Sun Casino . She is also Kmags official photographer.

Jose Rivera  (1st Dan bu-sahbum)
Jose has been with Kmag since early childhood He has blossomed into a very proficient Black Belt. He and his Family are very close to Kmag.
